C.J.
What a great story, you really don't hear stories like that anymore, but these are the kind I really like, sailors experiencing everyday life while deployed. Thank you for sharing.
Take care,
TED

P.S. How about this.... while underway for a few hours at night, did you ever see a guy get hit by a Seagull? That actually happened on two separate occasions, on my boat. The first time the guy was taking a nap and the birds beak actually hit him in the left cheek, result was a real nasty looking gouge. The second time was a few weeks later, and the bird swooped up, grazed the windshield and then nailed the guy in front of me square in the chest, he almost went over the side, but at least he had a tactical vest on to absorb most of the blow.
Both were VERY lucky because on both occasions we were traveling at 40 knots!

Ted I never encountered a seagull. They were not many in the South Pacific. Flying fish would sometimes land on the boat when underway.

David, could you send me the names and e-mail addresses of your contacts at Italeri? I need some spare parts from their PT 596 kit in order to modify my PT 109 into PT 156. I have contacted Customer Service at MRC, and they were no help at all. All they said was that the PT 596 kit was out of production. I have never cast parts in resin, but It sure looks like I am going to have to learn how.

Please e-mail me at stehlingsg@charter.net. Thank you.

Steve
