As Dave pointed out in another thread, Photobucket now wants $399 a year (or $39 / month) to be able to view images hosted there on another site like this one. Heck, you can get a basic unlimited storage / bandwidth web hosting account for $4 a month... and post images without needing to buy a domain name. But there's better (read free) alternatives.
I understand it costs money to store and for bandwidth, but hitting people out of the blue that depend on them is just plain ransoming. It also makes me wonder if they are having financial difficulty and are out to make a quick buck. No way I'd pay by the year. Here's an article about their change: http://www.ghacks.net/2017/06/30/photobucket-now-charges-399-for-third-party-hosted-images/
This site lists alternatives with descriptions:

A good choice with known stability would be Google:

I use Imgur occasionaly:

The nice thing about Photobucket was the account Dick set up for us, with the ability to make our own albums.

Test 3
Well, IMGUR looks okay so far. From just playing with it a little it seems much easier to use than Photobucket and seems more functional.
Anybody have a down side to this program?
Update. Found a down side. When you join imgur you join their community. I posted this image as a test and immediately got 3 messages asking me about it. Photobucket did have the ability to make images private.

Not sure how you could use Google Photos here. Maybe Dick can give us some ideas. Doing some research on posting Google Photos to forums I couldn't find anything helpful. I tried using it on another forum with no luck. Perhaps Google will have something better in the future.
I checked out Flickr. I'm able to use that on another forum. It has privacy features which are good. However I'm not sure how you would use it here. Would need Dick's input.
Test image with flickr:

It did post but it appears that I may not need the "
I did find that I could make an album in imgur "secret". But not sure how that works with the images folder and they do warn that anyone can grab your photos once you post them. So if you're concerned about image ownership this is not a good choice for you. The links are very convenient though and seem much more functional than Photobucket.

Thanks for the research Dave. Yes Imgur is pretty easy to use. It can be fun to browse also, it's probably best for most to select "Most Viral" sorted by "Popularity". Select at their main page by clicking on the underlined words so it reads "The Most Viral images on the Internet, sorted by popularity". Viewing "newest submitted", where images are first seen after uploading, is like a box of chocolates. A lot of stupid stuff shows up. And some offensive content can pop up before the watchdogs zap it.

Thanks David for doing all this legwork. I will wait for our fearless leader, Dick, to decide how we move forward from here. I am sort of pissed that Photobucket hijacked all of our pictures. Oh well, you get what you pay for I suppose...LOL
