I just back from Port Clinton, Ohio. The Liberty Aviation Museum is working on restoring Vosper PT 728. We were permitted to go into the shop where the boat is.. during the conversation with the guide she said that they were replacing the Packard engines with German diesel engines. Under the strong suggestion of the Coast
Guard. She also said there is another Vosper in a lot that is too far gone to restore. Therefore. that means there could be up to 6 engines available for parts or to rebuild. also other parts from the Vosper in the lot. I mentioned that original parts are hard to find. the only response I got was that the boat wright would have to be contacted. I put this out there because I would hate to see salvageable parts go to the wind. You can find the contact info on line for the Museum. I will send pics to Dick to post. i always have trouble. Smooth sailing to all.

Hey Scott,
Thanks for the update! They do have a Facebook page that I keep tabs on occasionally. I have one other question. Did you see with your own eyes these old Packard engines? I was under the impression they never had any to begin with., much less 6! Where did you figure out they have Packards? I thought that Mr Rob Ianucci in Kingston NY is the one who has the Packards. Did you take any photos of them by chance? Thanks for the photo and the new info at any rate.
Jerry

I saw one saw Packard, the woman volunteer seemed to indicate they had the others somewhere. I did not mean to say they definitely had 6 engines only surmised that they could have up to 6. sorry for the possible confusion. Only trying to say it may be worth checking out and to find out if they have any other items worth rescuing if they aren't going to display them.

Jerry,

I did see the Packards at Rob's place in Kingston in 2017 and he has a boatload of them in various conditions!
