Bulkeley's Squadron 2 in England had only three boats - all 78' Higgins. They were used to support OSS operations but during the Normandy Invasion, they were assigned as dispatch boats. Here is an overhead shot. Instead of torpedoes, it has some type of mesh platforms. Does anyone know what these are?

The mesh baskets were for rubber bladders that held additional fuel to extend the boats range. PT's 71, 72 and 199 were the three Higgins used by the OSS. PT-199 was skippered by William (Bud) Liebenow.

Thank you for that information! First I've heard about these.
