	Often over-looked is the role of the PT Boat Tenders. These wonderful ships provided a life line to the boats that included torpedoes, ammo, mess facilities, engine shop, metal shop facilities as well as wood working abilities. They were classified as AGP's with several different classes that included the Hilo Class, Jamestown class, Portunus class, Oyster Bay Class, Acontius Class, Several were converted from small sea plane tenders while others from LST's. They had armament to protect themself and several had boat booms that swung out over the water to pick up the PT boats so that work performed on the hulls and others underwater areas could be achieved. I am posting a few photos as there does not seem to be a great deal of photos available
