What was the raft webbing made from?

Hi there again.
Please look at the EARLY WAR rafts shown in this image and particularly the web-like structure in the bottom of each raft.

At first I thought this structure might be thin wood but now I think it might have been a canvas or similar material webbing. Does any one know for sure what that material was?
Does any one have a better image of the inside of onre of these EARLY War rafts?
Thanks and cheers from PeterTareBuilder
