Hi there.

Can any one tell me where I can find photos of the various H-R Products PT boat fittings and weapons? I want to order some parts and guns in 1/32 scale but most of the products on the H-R site do not have images only product numbers.

Over the years, as I've thought about building that 1/32 Lindberg kit stored in my garage, I've wished and wondered the same thing, too.

Many years ago (at least 15), I did see a photo of the H-R Products PT-boat-type twin-.50 caliber guns/mount in 1/32nd scale, I believe in an advertisement in a FINE SCALE MODELER magazine. They looked pretty good, but I have since read they carried a lot of "flash" that has to be cleaned up. I don't think I've ever seen any other illustrations or photos of any other H-R Products items.

There is a British modeling company, I believe called Nautical Marine Models, or something similar, which makes and sells sectional parts in resin and fittings in white metal for a 1/32nd (or 1/35th, which is close enough) scale 80' Elco PT. The larger, sectional resin parts, which are the charthouse/cockpit, the dayroom bulkheads/canopy, the engine room cover/hatch/ventilators/20mm ammo lockers, and depth charges in cradles, would probably fit the Lindberg kit. The white metal fittings are sidelights, chocks, cleats, etc. Checking the exchange rate on their prices, listed in English pounds, reveals they're pretty expensive.

Yeh when I was building my PT Boat I checked out these guy's. some nice items.
They do list on ebay might be worth a look.

I would not recommend H-R Products. If I were you sir, I'd google THE FLOATING DRYDOCK and see what other manufacturers have in that scale. H-R castings aren't up to par anymore and they're dreadfully slow in delivery.

Another option is to go to www.ptboatworld.com, click on the links page and click on the company from England that has replacement parts for that kit.

One thing to watch when ordering parts for the Lindberg kit; it is not really molded to a true scale (compare to Al Ross' drawings). Some aftermarket parts will fit better than others.

Hi there.

My budget is very tight.

In military armour there is quite a difference in size between 1/32 and 1/35 scale kits and accessories. A 1/35 scale tank is not compatible with a 1/32 scale model of the same vehicle unless you are attempting a forced perspective.

I have already modified the chart-room and the bridge area.

I think that I will just scratch-build the .fifty caliber gun barrels. I have a number of Tamiya .fifty caliber mgs from their SAS jeep kits. Those guns are actually larger than 1/35 and I can use those receivers. I am only looking for some thing better than the Lindberg .fifty caliber mgs.

Yes, use the Tamiya stuff ........... try and not use the H-R stuff. They once was good. Now? Vastly out-classed, even by plastic stuff I'm sorry to say.
