» Topic: Will this get my Lindberg 1/32 PT-109 to plane?
http://www.ptboatforum.com/cgi-bin/MB2/netboardr.cgi?cid=101&fid=102&tid=887

Hi there.

I bought two new Graupner No.412 M4 shafts and two new Graupner Nr.3320 Speed 400 Race motors rated to 6 volts for my 1/32 scale Lindberg PT-109 kit.

Will it hurt to run these with a 7.2 volt battery? I plan to use direct drive on them.

I also bought four three blade props. Two of the props are ProBoat PRB1321: PT-109 so I thought they would work well with the thirty inch long Lindberg kit.

Do you think these props and motors wil get this model to plane? If not the other two props I bought are Graupner 2308.40 forty mm diameter. Will those make the model faster?

Does any one have any idea how long a run time these two motors and props will have if I use only one 7.2 volt 3300 NiMH battery? I can get another battery if I really have too but would like to spare the expnse if I can.

Thanks again for all the advice and encouragement.

Pete,

I have no experience with the Graupner products, but the set-up you describe should get your boat to plane very well--my usual running gear installation is two good Mabuchi 540-series motors, a speed control, and a 7.2 volt battery. Run time is about 15 minutes at full throttle. Two battery packs I feel are overkill unless you plan to wire them in parallel to extend the run time. Be aware that this will add weight to the boat--an important consideration in operation of a fast-planing model.
