» Topic: Question about Ron 11 & 22 CPHM
http://www.ptboatforum.com/cgi-bin/MB2/netboardr.cgi?cid=101&fid=102&tid=820

Hello. My name is Randy Tyce and I am looking for some information about my grandfather, Lewis A. Tyce, CPHM. I got his records mailed to me after he passed in 2003 and I had a few questions. His records mention him being with Ron 11 from 10/43-4/44 and then from Ron 22 12/44-7/45. Was he assigned to a particular boat or was he stationed at the base for his squadron? I have a few pictures I want to scan of him and other crewmen. I also have another picture he took of the PT 308 in dry dock after some damage. I will post these later in the week.

Thanks for any help.

Randy Tyce

Randy: I have quite a few uncaptioned crew pictures from the two squadrons you mentioned. When you post a shot of your grandfather, I'll see if any of them look like a match.

PT 311;
Bill Pleasants, the Skipper of PT 309 used to have about 22 pages of photos of RON 22 photos, but the link has been disabled. For your info, as for surviving RON 22 boats: PT 308 was owned by a group attempting to restore her, but destroyed as of 2002-2003 in Deleware, PT 305, is going to New Orleans museum, PT 309 is in Fredrickburg Texas at the Nimitz Museum/Museum of the Pacific War. PT 302 (last civilian name: Blue Dolphin)is MIA somewhere along the Gulf Coast.
Take care,

Tom;
You are correct, I believe every boat in RON 22 was represented in the album, he also had a number of contributers who added their photos such as Walt Pirog form 308, Tom Alongi from 302? and a few more etc. I will see if I have some on disk.
Tale care,

Hi guys..still on a quest to get info and pics of PT311 crew. As I understand it, both officers and eight crew members were killed when the boat hit a mine off Spezia. Anyone have any information on the five survivors? Anyone come accross or know how to access Bill Pleasant's album since it disappeared? Any/all info greatly appreciated! God bless you PT boys from a Tin Can Sailor!
