Does anyone have any information on this painting?
It was supposed to be a calendar for elco around 1916. Maybe it was a catalog cover, too.
Have you ever seen it reproduced and where?
Any tips on where to look elsewhere would help, too.
The artist is William Harnden Foster (1886 - 1941)

One thing we know for sure, this is not a PT BOAT made by Elco as they did not exsist during that time frame. Although I am not 100% positive here, it looks simular to the Elco Sub Chasers that were built around 1915 to Combat the German Submarine's. British forces were losing many of their Ships to the German Subs, and badley needed soemthing to fight them with. Elco's Chief Designer, Irwin Chase came up with the design, which was an 80 foot wooden boat, with an 3 inch gun on the bow, and an average speed of 19 knots.
Needing these boats quickly, Elco built 530 of these boats in an amazing time of 488 days. Many of the boats flew British, French and Italian Flags during WW1. Hope this helps, but it sure looks like what you have there..............

Elco also built a 127' Submarine Chaser, running special trials on the Hudson River on January 18, 1919. This boat was very simular to the 110' Submarine Chasers built previuously. I have the original Trail report of this Sub Chaser from the SUPERINTENDING CONSTRUCTOR. dated January 28, 1919.

Thanks for the replies so far. It is good info. I have been in contact with the links above but so far they have not seen where the painting was reproduced.
