Hi,
My grandfather Raymond Koplin was assigned to RON 16. I believe he was on PT-220 as I have a crew picture with that boat and him in the photo. I'd like to find out any info on the boat and the crew.

Thanks,

Kipp Yeakel

Kipp - What is your e-mail? I have some pictures of the 220. Also, check the book AT CLOSE QUARTERS for operational menion of the boat.

Will,
Thanks for the reply, I've sent you the e-mail address via your e-mail reply button. I appreciate the help. I've been reading a few books on PT boats, and the Morrison naval history books. I ordered the book you suggested, as it was not in my collection. I have a few pictures of the boat and crew, as well as some others. I also have his records, and a letter from one of his PT boat buddies. Is there a cantral repository of pictures and other memorabilia on line? I'd like to include some digital images of the ones I have.

Kipp: Thanks for the photos. There is a repository of sorts at PHOTOBUCKET under ptboats. Take a look.

Kipp,

I just joined the forum and I noticed your post. I know its old so I don't know if you are still interested, but my dad was on the 220 crew. I have some crew photos and the like, and a little diary that he kept. Its generally not very detailed, but it does a day-by-day of activity for the time he was on the 220 (the last year of the war). I would also be interested in any pictures of the boat--I don't have any. I only have a couple zoomed in shots.

thanks.

tom

I found this picture in the Knights of the Sea Book

I also have a RON16 Diary that mentions PT220 in several places. It is small enough to email to you if you give me your email address. Jerry

Jerry,

Great pic--thank you. My e-mail is usma75b4@gmail.com. I'd love to have a copy of the diary. I do not have a soft copy of my dad's. I need to do that. My sister, who was born after he died, is reading it right now.

Thanks.

tom
