[RED]THIS RAFFLE ENDED ON DECEMBER 18, 2007 –[/red]

The winner was Will Day he picked 41 and was the closest bidder to the lucky number, which was 27.

[green]This is the original message below - in 2007 . . . . . .[/green]

Hi gang . . . .

About 9 or 10 years ago I bought a Linberg 1/32 scale PT-109 Model. When I received it in the mail I remember opening the box and examining the contents, but that’s all I remember. Now some ten years later and after having a new roof put on the house last month and the mess it left inside the garage from old roofing debris falling between the roof boards. I was forced to crawl up into the overhead storage to clean-up a huge mess. Low and behold as I hauled down items in storage (isn’t it stupid what we save – or at least me) I discovered a large box. Inside that box was the Linberg model I had purchased sometime back. Everything seems to be complete and in excellent condition, with parts still bagged.

Now, I would like to put it up for raffle – it doesn’t cost anything other then to pay the postage/shipping charges to whom ever wins it. I only hope members truly interested in building it or having it built will compete for it. It is not to be sold!!!!!

Remember, this is a very large model (29” I think) and does require some skill to properly build it.

The Raffled Linberg PT Boat model is un-built and in As-Is condition – no warranty or promises made.

[RED]THIS RAFFLE ENDED ON DECEMBER 18, 2007 –[/red]

To win, participants have to guess the number I have chosen. With some 361 PT Boat Message Boarders I have picked a number between 1 & 400. You can only pick one number and one number only, make a good guess and good luck to all. If the actual number is not chosen then the closest number, either higher or lower will win. If by chance there is a tie, then those who have tied will go into a run-off, picking a new number in a different range. The raffle will only last until this coming Tuesday night December 18, 2008 at 11:00 pm PST. This is a private personal offering, no company or organization is involved, and no auditing is involved. This PT Boat Model Raffle is being offered for the pure fun of it – sore looser should not partake in this fun raffle. There is no warranty or promises made, there is no cash value, the model will be given to a raffle winner who pays for postage/shipping to their address and in the condition: as is. This fun raffle is void where prohibited by law. If the winner fails to pay for actual postage/shipping fee, the winner will default to the next closest number holder.

Typical U.S. Domestic postage/shipping fees from the U.S. Post Office are approximately $18.00 for Parcel Post (10 to 12 days) and $28.00 Priority Mail (2 to 3 days). This is an estimate only. If the winner lives outside the continental United States, such winner will have to pay a much larger postage/shipping fee. ONLY participate if you have the ability and desire to pay for such postage/shipping fees and agree not to sell the model.

[RED]THIS RAFFLE ENDED ON DECEMBER 18, 2007 –[/red]

To participate "post a reply" to this email (NOT A NEW POST), post your name and your chosen number.

By participating and guessing a number, you agree not to sell the model and agree to pay for all postage/shipping fees.; GOOD LUCK.
All the best,
Dick . . . . .

Hey Dick,

That drawing on your computer screen behind the "LINDBERG monster" ... Man - do I hate that kit - where did you find that drawing?

Ahoy there Dick-

This sound like a lot of fun to me! I've built three of these so far and I'd love to win another!

This would be a great way to spend those long winter nights!

Put me down for number 196 !

Thanks for the raffle Dick and Merry Christmas!

Garth . . .

The drawing is an isometric of the Higgins 78' Series PT 277 - PT 288. At this point it’s just a black & white .EPS line drawing, I have yet to complete the below deck cut-away view and add color.

I have a whole series of Isometric (three-dimensional) drawings that I created from copies of ELCO, HIGGINS and HUCKINS engineering I purchased from Headquarters over the past ten years. As you might note on an earlier post I'm selling posters of one. The Elco 103 series, Eventually there will be about seven cut-away posters in all and maybe calendars for all seven - not sure yet - I'll see how they sell. Unfortunately, in the quantities I'm printing the per unit cost is very, very high, and shipping/postage is ridiculous.

Below is a better look at it . . .

Guys.... Talk about a small world! I was just looking through a Military History catalog - It looks like they are selling this same model for about $90.

I wonder if someone made another run of the old Lindeberg line.

Well gang . . . . it's that time.

I though more would join in - but better for those competing.

The lucky number is 27 - it has no PT Boat significance, it's just been a number that I have been doodling for a long, long time, actually since high school.

So as you can see, Will Day is the winner. Congratulation Will.

I will be shipping it out and when I have the final tab on postage, I’ll send you a note. Priority mail will probably be around: $11.60 + $2.05 ($100.00 insurance) and $0.65 (Delivery Confirmation), for a total of about $14.30. It will be off to you soon.

Thanks to all for participating,
All the best, and Happy Holidays,

Dick Washichek

Congrat Will.
BTW, there is a company that makes 1/32 scale tubes and mounts, 20mms and mounts and depth charges with racks. They look quite good and might dress up the kit. If interested, let me know and I'll find the link for you.

Thanks, guys - I'll try to do her justice and post pics (I know there is a lot of work to do making her into the right config for whatever boat I decide she should be).

Ed, if you could let me know the name of a parts supplier (other than H&R), that would be great.

Dick, thanks again.

Will,
Checkout

It looks like you could get a lot of items to correct a lot of the ills of the kit.

If you look at their PT109 "kit" you can see that it was probably the basis for the boat in the PT157 diorama in the other thread. Especially note the deck planking and then look at a deck photo of the 157 diorama. I suspect that many of their pieces were used in the building of the diorama's boat.

Ahoy there Dick_

Thanks for the raffle, buddy! This was fun! Perhaps other members will soon follow suit and raffle off some of that "unwanted" PT boat "stuff" we no longer use, want or whatever!

Congrats, Will! I'd like to see a few shots of her when she's finished!

Hi, gang.

So as I mentioned to Dick, I'm going to build the raffle boat up into PT-149. To that end, does anyone have info, drawings, etc. for the "beehive" radar dome that she carried at one point?

Thanks

Well this drawing ended in 2007, and we have yet to see that wonderful boat that Will made. I think you should just send it to me, along with that 109 model I have been waiting to get from you for 8 years now............Well at least send a photo of the box.

Yeah, Will . . . .

That was what, eight years ago, well may be like seven and a quarter years ago. You must have gotten a bad batch of GLUE with an extended drying time. No telling how long it will take for the paint to dry, if the glue ever sets-up. My guess is you sold it on eBay to afford a better model, like the old Revell PT-109!!!!!

just having some fun
