ť Topic: ELCO Factory Rosencrantz Models

I have enclosed some original Elco Photographs of the work of Mr. Don Rosencrantz. These metal models are without a doubt some of the finest work you will find anywhere. As you can see, Rosencrantz must have been pretty busy building these models for the Company. The backs of the photo's are all dated 1944. Seeing all these models, I just wonder where some of them are. I am honored to own one of these great master piece's and look forward to trying to locate more of them.

Once again, Wow! You never see models around of the 70' and 77' Elco PTs. I wonder if they're also 1/4 (1/48) scale?

It is hard to say what scale they are, although I do know that PT 41 was presented to Lt. John D. Bulkeley by the Elco naval Division on October 18, 1944. I have the Newspaper article showing Bulkeley with the model, along with Henry Sutphen and Irwin Chase. The article does mention Rosencrantz as the builder of the boat. I wish I could get my hands on some of them. "I WANT THEM ALL". That PT 10 is a nice model. Wish I could see these in color, to see what Don used for paint.

Can you please explain as to how you were at Bulkeley's home in the 1990's. Seeing the Rosencrantz model in color is a thrill for sure. I was just on the phone earlier with Peter Bulkeley wishing him and his Family a Merry Christmas. Can you believe that the admiral's wife Alice is still going strong. He told me she was baking today. She must be in her 90's no doubt. Thanks again for sharing. By the way, what was te piece of wood in the picture, and does that model have it's case still. I should be reflecting on the fantastic craftmanship of the models and the incredible scale detail, but...all I can do is laugh at E.T. at the helm. Hilarious!

I was building some models for him. He didn't live very far from me (I live in Maryland as did he).

The piece of wood sitting next to the boat in the picture is just a name plate he had. The model was sitting on top of a book case or something.

There was no case or cover on the model. It was just as it is in the picture.

Do you still take an active part in model building, and do you have any photo's to share of your work. If you were building something for Bulkeley, it had to be top notch stuff.
