Hi everyone ,
it's some years that I posted here ,but I have time now to finish the boat.
But first a question about the dinghy.
was it onboard during actions and if so where was it stored?

cheers,
Tom

Is that one of the canceled end war 78' Higgins, meant for Russia?

The closest I could find was a pic of 791 with a very small, maybe 8', dinghy tied upside down on the port side, just forward of the bridge. 792-796 didn't seem to have any dingy pics, if any pics at all, and then there were some one offs, some cancellations, etc. The Higgins 78s picked back up at 813 but all listed as canceled, according to navsource.

Tom;
You mean PT 518 RON 35.
Take care,

Hi all,

I looked at PTs 510-521 on Navsource, and there is only one boat I saw a dinghy on. This pic of the 515 has what appears to be a small dinghy on the bow, next to what might be a park bench(?)

Hi,
I think the park bench is a device to hoist wounded sailors out of the water.

cheers,
Tom

I don't know if this will be helpful or not, as it's not a part of the same squadron, but I just stumbled over this pic on pinterest and thought it may offer another dinghy storage option.

The dinghy was not a part of RON 34 and RON 35 boat equipment. They didn’t carry them. They were made part of the boat equipment on later series boats. The dinghy on 515 in Franks photo, was probably “liberated/borrowed “ from the Portsmouth Base.
Take care,

Here's a post by Jeff D, from a few years ago. Not sure if the drawings will do much for scale, but there are a couple of pics where it's visible against the control panel, maybe can give you a better idea.

*** Please disregard this. I see where I went wrong. It looks like Battleship Cove and PT-305 have originals of the Mk31, and 658 has made brass replicas, but I can't spot anything against any kind of reliable measuring background as of yet.

I have what might be a dumb question. Looking at the pic of the model component, I went off to google and found what I believe is a Mk 7 (?) and I haven't had any luck with dimensions for that, but if the 518 went into service in early '44, could it have possibly had the Mk 8? If so, hnsa has some info on it with pics and a blueprint.

https://archive.hnsa.org/doc/banjo/index.htm

I found a war diary, detailing MTB RON 22's test of the Mk 9, in July of 1944, which led me to wondering if the 518 may have had the 8 or the 7 in Feb of 1944.

I could be way off base here, but I don't know enough to be able to tell.
