http://www.ptboatforum.com/cgi-bin/MB2/netboardr.cgi?cid=101&fid=102&tid=5166

Hi,

New member here hoping to find more info (pics would be great) on my Dad's Ron31 PT 470 journey Also wanted to share the google map I made of their ports based on a shared log of their boat. Let me know if you can see the map...

Also looking for search tips and tricks. I point google at the site "PT 470" site:http://www.ptboatforum.com but that requires content be tagged with keywords.

Looking forward to digging into the site.

Drew

Hi Drew,

I was surprised to see navsource had very little on the 470. I haven't been able to find deck logs for any PT other than 109, but I was able to find about 13 war diaries for MTB RON 31 and a report of operations in which the 470 participated. (MTB RON 31 - Rep of MTB opers in the Ryukyu Islands, 7/13-25/45)

Since there are so many, rather than post individual links, I am going to attempt to post the search link.

If this doesn't work, you can also reach them by navigating to catalog.archives.gov manually, and typing "MTB RON 31" and they should appear right at the top. You will need to use the quotes, or it will bury you with similar titles.

Hope this helps some.

Thanks so much Joe. I was able to find a mission report that details exactly what my Dad had told us about years ago before he passed where they came upon Japanese evacuating Okinawa in canoes. I even have a recording of the conversation of him telling us the story. Gave me goose bumps to read the report. Just as my Dad told it. Thanks again.

Hi Drew,

Very glad to be able to help. I can imagine that must be a strange and wonderful feeling, to be reading the official reports of the stories you were told.

Welcome Drew, good to have you here! [:-cheers-:]

I checked my photos but nothing. I'm hoping one of our other members can dig some up, several here have extensive collections.
