Quartermaster 2/c Walter F. Wilcox of Patterson, New Jersey. During an engagement with three enemy barges he was wounded in the thigh but stayed at his post in the 50 caliber machine gun mount. They destroyed the three barges but were taken under fire by shore batteries. One of his shipmates was wounded and began rolling over the side, but Wilcox saved him before he could go over. For his actions that night he was awarded the SILVER STAR. I do not have a boat number, although he did serve with Ron 12.
