I am looking for a date when RON 28 was in Melville RI training. I recently watched "Devil Boats" and in the video which I believe was filmed in late 1943 you can see PT 381 when the sailors board a PT for the first time. Just try to finish a book I have put together for my Uncle who served on PT380. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

RON 28 was commissioned August 30, 1943.

From the MTBSTC War Diary.

Looks like RON 28 arrived in different groups. The exact date of arrival of the first group, which consisted of PT 381, 382, 383, 546, 548, & 549 is not recorded in the MTBSTC War Diary, but they were there as of September 30, 1943.

It is reported that PT 378, 379, 380, 381, 382, 383, & 547 were there as of 31 October 1943.

It is reported that PT 378, 379, 381, 382, 383, 546, 548, & 549 completed their shakedown in October,1943 and departed. Unfortunately, again, no exact date recorded.

It is reported that Group B of RON 28 consisting of PT 546, 547, 548, 549, 550, & 551completed shakedown and departed 9 December 1943.

Hey Travis, It's not online. I copied it when I was working on my MTBSTC book. It is a pdf file, don't think I can post it here, let me see If I can send it to you
