Lumbari Island

Lumbari Island from 2008, looking west. Most likely a couple of the coconut trees to the right of the mangroves would have been where they strung the Todd City sign. To the right of the beach is a 37mm piece along with an anchor just behind it. Here is a photo of the anchor and 37mm. In 1981 there was two rusting remains of US Jeeps and one amphib jeep. Behind that was a .50 caliber machine gun with a bent barrel, which are now gone. This was sent to me by my friend who visited these areas. Todd City was a PT Base on Lumberi which is on the Northeast corner of Rendova. The base was an advanced base that was formed by Ron 9 and then Rons 5, 10, and 11. The boats anchored around the island.
