» Topic: Lend Lease Herreshoff Boats
http://www.ptboatforum.com/cgi-bin/MB2/netboardr.cgi?cid=101&fid=102&tid=4965

I am researching boats built in particular by Herreshoff in Bristol, Rhode Island. I will post a separate note about the crash boats, but for PT boats they all went to the UK and Russia. Some were returned to the US. I can find little on war time service or the fate for most of them and looking for any added info. Details below. Happy to share what I have learned but hoping for more. Thanks.

(8) 70’ Vosper Class PT boats (all to Britain/India) (BPT #29-36 which were called by the British MTB # 287-294)
Delivered March – July 1943

(20) 70’ Vosper Class PT boats (all the USSR) (P #430-449)
Delivered Feb – June 1944

Hi Greg. This should explain why there is so little info on the exploits of the lend lease Vosper MTB's that went to India (I had a similar question about the Annapolis ones that went there):

The Revell Vosper 1/72 Scale MTB is a pretty close approximation to the Herreshoff boats sent to Russia

Hi, what do you want to know about Herreshoff Vospers? Their fate in SU Fleet?

Revell kit is rather bad approximation of SU design Vosper. Cockpit, hull shape and transom got huge mistakes. Hull bottom completely wrong.
