In the next day or so, I will be updating this Forum with a new look and new features - which I sure hope works without issues.

Including: A new Documents page with all of the linked documents now on my Dropbox.com account for downloading without any request. Some documents are new and I will include any new items sent to me, or collected by myself. One important part of the new page is the “Request Link” to the Elco 70’, 77’ and 80’ as well as the Higgins 78’ PT boat engineering drawings from the National Archives microfilm reels. These scanned microfilm documents are now provided free. As some might recall for several years I sold them on DVD, but since then, they have been nearly paid for. Making it possible for me to make them available for free. Unlike the general document links that take you directly to the download page, the Engineering Drawing Link sends an emails to me with your request for access, after receipt I will reply with a download link. As a note, the Dropbox link does not require you to sign-in or join, If however, a pop-up box appears on the page simply cursor to the bottom of it and click on the NO THANK YOU link.

In addition, other new pages include Privacy, and Cookie Notices as well as a Links Page, Search, Register, My Profile, Log-In and Photo Gallery. The last, Photo Gallery, is know open to guest to post photos without a pre-approved account, if abused the Gallery will again be secured back to membership only.

A New - Upload Image Button is included in the posting area, allowing easy upload of your photos to the form. This should make it a much easier process while making a post. Now when typing in your post there is a button on the left that lets you upload photos directly from your computer to the post you are writing. These photos are for image files only, like .jpg, .png, .gif - NO .PDF files, they are not image or photo files.

Finally - There are two separate navigation bars. The main bar is under the Header Photo, including the main navigation. The second bar is below the posting and index area. It is a sub bar with additional links. Please familiarize yourself and look at each navigation bar. Along with the navigation bars, the forum/web pages are now resizable to fit different computer, tablet and other screens as well.

I’m crossing my finger that all will work fine.

The Real Final Note, I’ve had the fearless Jeff D (Jeff Davidson) testing the site since its new update at a separate testing location. Sadly however, he is no longer speaking to me - I think his computer melted . . . [:-good-:][:-good-:][:-good-:] . . . Hmmm, read the “Conditional Use of this Forum/Message Board”

WARNING There Could Be Forum Interruptions.

ALL MEMBERS SHOULD READ . . . .

Only 31 visitors out of 467 visits to the forum have read this post over the last four days. It is important that you realize there could be some issues in its operation during the changes. Its not unrealistic to see posts missing or not showing up. All will be done to curb any such errors in occurring.

The changes will occur tomorrow night 12-17-2019

This Forum's current web hosting service account ends in March of 2022, and this could be the last of it. With ever increasing costs, and specially the recent death of membership participation over the last two years, it only stands to reason. In the past this forum would receive 400 or more visitors per day, but recently it cannot even hit 100 per day. It could be said that most of the PT Vet have taken their last sail, specially in the last ten years. More realistic the interest has died and maybe all the Facebook PT Boat related sites have just drained the forum. After all there is only so much PT you can talk about . . . .well, maybe not.

Stay tune for the change . . .
Dick

Maybe everyone is renouncing their slavish devotion to their electronics and are starting to rediscover the "outside"? HAHAHA I crack myself up sometimes!

Seriously though thank you Dick for all you've done these last several decades for the PT Veterans, their families, restoration groups, modelers, and those of us with an interest in the history of PT boats. For me, it will be a dark day on the internet when this site goes away. I am happy to hear that we have at least a few more years.

You are going to make a lot of people very happy with all the free drawings and documents! Your generosity is greatly appreciated Mr. Washichek. [:-cheers-:]

Dick, I'm sure that the new forum will be just great once the bugs are shaken loose from the PC rafters. Looking forward to the new format. A question: How can we see photos from very old posts that are no longer there. Thanks Dick for all that you do, you are the Guru of the PT Forum.
