the day lives in infamy. the day that started the creation of the greatest generation, and produced one of the greatest fighting units in the Navy,. PT Boat squadrons. May all who fought to preserve our freedom know that I am eternally grateful. this thought also include those who have served up to this day.. regards scott .

Good morning, just took these of my Pearl Harbor Flag flying high and proud. Just reminding all to remember those who died for us 78 years ago today.

NPS is going to show the ceremonies live on their webpage "if they can get it to work"

Don't forget the 54 men and one baby still interned on the USS Utah on the other side of Ford Island! The first victim on December 7, 1941, and the most forgotten! The baby was Chief Yeoman Albert Wagner's baby daughter who had recently died. He had intended to bury her on shore, but after the sinking, decided to leave her tiny ashes in his locker with his comrades. Also still on board is Chief Watertender Peter Tomich, who kept going back below deck to rescue more sailors. On his last trip, the ship finished capsizing and he did not come back up. He received the Medal Of Honor, posthumously.

I forgot to add, the baby's name was Nancy. thus she is the only female to go down aboard a ship on that day. Her twin sister visited the Utah many years later.

Thanks for that interesting bit of trivia.
I recently read a book called " Reassessing Pearl Harbor " by James Johns, very revealing facts leading up to the day.
Also for those who may be unaware, I suggest you check out the " Niahuu Incident " which occurred the same day, I never heard of the incident until a visit to the museum on Ford Island.
