ALL;
Chip was trying to narrow down the exact location of the scuttling of the Russian Lend Lease ELCO's that they didn't return. It is up to us to find that location. There will be restorable items there.
Take care,

I asked one man in Russia (he is professional navy historian) about scuttling of Lend-lease boats in Barents sea. His answer was quite pessimistic for you guys. First of all archive materials of that period are still classified. He doesn't know anyone in Russia who would be working about this theme as historian. The area were the boats were scuttled is rather big and has no exact geographic determination. Finally he supposed that US Navy probably fixed the process of scuttling in its documents. So the best way for you is research in Nara or NHHC.

I have always wondered if my Uncle's PT boat went to Russia. At the end of the war PT 380 was sold off and my research thus far has not come up with who bought it or where it went. Another boat from RON 28 was sold and brought back to the USA were it was used for either boat tours or fishing I cannot remember which. If anyone can help point me in the right direction to find out the fate of PT 380 I would greatly appreciate it.

PT 380 didn't go to Russia under the Lend-lease.

About scuttling date. The period from June 28 to June 30 year 1956 is mentioned in the Russian book about Lend-lease ships.

In Russian it is: "Флот СССР. Корабли и суда ЛендЛиза" 1994. Very good book. There are some mistakes in it but it is the best source for Lend-Lease ships in Russian.
Best regards

Thanks Igor for the history that would be hard for us to get otherwise. Maybe in a couple of hundred years the planet denizens will all speak the same language. But until then thankfully there are people like you. [:-cheers-:]
