http://www.ptboatforum.com/cgi-bin/MB2/netboardr.cgi?cid=101&fid=102&tid=4802

I just returned from vacation to be greeted by this new release from Warbird Decals. This is their second decal sheet. Thanks to help from many of you they have released this new sheet. This is a set that can go a long long way. Some great nose art and opportunities to dress up your new 1/72 Elco. This sheet can also extend into the upcoming late model boat due later this year. Thanks to Warbird decals for making these available for us!

Nice decal sheet ! I'm surprised by the nude pin-up girl, apparently PT crews were given a free hand to express their creativity . I think this would be quite unheard of in the Royal Navy [:-happy-:].

Regards,

Arjan

Dave,

Pretty sweet...but I wish they'd included some grayed-out small shaded numbers, a`la the Ron 9 boats, and some small black numbers...

I'm curious...what are those vertical red and white striped bars at the top left of the bottom half of the sheet?

Thanks for posting.

Drew;
Those are patrol markings, however, I have also seen them with a Japanese barge or plane silhouette on top and the "hash" marks below, denoting how many barges or planes sunk/shot down.
Take care,

I am pleasantly surprised that they seem to have taken their inspiration for these decals and logos from the photos that I posted both here and on NAVSOUCE from the collection of Bill Skade, Skipper of PT143. His daughter allowed me to scan his photo collection when they came aboard to ride PT658 for his 90th birthday party back in 2012. I remember posting those several years ago to NAVSOURCE for both RON 8 boats, PT143 "Ring Dang Doo" and PT146 "Lucky Lady" and now they turn up on this excellent decal set. It kind of gives me a good feeling that I was involved in this in some small way! Way cool.

Thanks a lot for sharing these photos Jerry. I strongly feel that WWII period pics should be made available to all those who take a keen interest. I don't like collectors who jealously guard their pics because they regard them as an investment.

I like the pin-up girl of PT 146 even better, I hope someone will make a 1/35 PT boat decal set.

Regards,

Arjan

I'm with you there Arjan. Jerry has shared many PT photos with us and I am particularly grateful for the ones of the early boats. He even went out of his way to photograph the Mark 17 .50 mount on the 658 for me when I was modeling it. Thanks Jerry! [:-cheers-:]

Glad you like the sheet. The art work was developed from photos posted on this site.

There is supposed to be a 1/48 and 1/35 scale sheet. I'm checking on it now and will let you know what I learn.

Take care
Dave [:-cheers-:]
