A gentleman, David Alan Jones, posted a link to this on Facebook. It's 436 pages of detailed info on our favorite engine: http://www.packardroyal.com/4M-2500-PACKARD-MARINE-ENGINE.pdf

Must see - - - the notes on pages 84, 85 and 358 probably from an old “salty“ chief, clearly an expert motormac

Great find and link Jeff, thanks much. This digital pdf is very convenient - Frankie had sent me a photocopy of his copy from his personal library, way, way, way back when I was a mere innocent infant ! ! ! ! probably back in the late 90’s.

Glad you enjoyed it Dick! Yes those notes are interesting although I think the heat from the engine he had to sit on was getting to him. [:-laughing-:]

I found this interesting, I don't remember ever seeing fork and blade type connecting rods before:

You're welcome Bill, wish I knew who to credit for scanning this in.

The site sponsoring the download, http://www.packardroyal.com, has some beautiful pictures of a 4M-2500 powered car which is a rolling work of art. It's a beast about 3/8 the length of a PT boat.
