I was glad to hear my photos would be welcome and Dick has agreed to post them for me.
First I would like to thank Jeff D, Al Ross, Frank Andruss, and Gerry Gilmartin for providing me with various sources of information and a few photographs that helped me to understand the bridge configuration of the Hellcat.
Photos to follow hope you enjoy them.

Hi Larry, just wanted to take a moment to let you know what an awesome job you did on this build. Are you going to install R/C and if so what type of power and radio system are you thinking about ? Also, what scale is she ?
Again, very nice job.

Take care,

Gentlemen thanks for the compliments.
My Hellcat is built on a 1/20th scale resulting in an overall length of 42.4 "s and an11 lbs. running weight.
She is remotely controlled with a Specktrum transmitter/receiver unit, and is powered by a pair of 3648 brushless outrunner motors turning 1.4" diameter 3 blade propellers, two LIPO 11.1V batteries provide an hour plus run time at scale speed.
If you can look closely at the one pic with the deck removed you can make out the powertrain.

Very cool Larry, and the fact that it's R/C makes it doubly so! Have you ever seen another Hellcat model either R/C or static? [:-cheers-:]

Great looking model. I would like to know how long it took to build?

Tonto95

After researching the University of New Orleans vast collections of Higgins blueprints and coming up with a final set of plans I began the actual construction.

From the beginning of assembly to the first trial runs was approximately 4 months. This was my third scratch build of a large PT and lessons learned earlier made the process easier.

The recent development of 3D printing has certainly made the detailing of a project much easier. Crew, weapons, and many small details previously beyond my capability can now be readily procured.

Advancements in brushless motors and LIPO batteries have made it possible to achieve long run times on the water, and provide power that makes far beyond scale speed easy.

Stay tuned for my next model presentation, it will be my 1/16th scale Higgins , 58.5" long, carrying the designation PT 223.

When asked why I choose that number I responded it's one of my favorite calibers, an authentic boat number for Higgins, and it sounded better than .45ACP.

Larry;
PT 564 looks great, I am sure you will do great with PT 223 too. Where did you get your figures on PT 564? Are they Shapeways?
Take care,
TED
P.S. I am really interested in adding my own 1/35th model of this to my modeling bucket list, because Bob Searles really did everything he could to beat the crap out of the original and he wound up loving it. It was a great design for a pure torpedo boat.

Thanks for the compliments. And you are correct that all of the 3D parts and pieces did indeed come from Shapeways. There are several designers offering a vast array of PT boat orientated accessories in a variety of scales and finishes.
