Hey!

Is everybody on vacation?

I take one every once in a while...in my mind...on an 80-foot Elco...[:-good-:]

I haven't been here for some time now.

I still have one of my 1/32 scale Lindberg PT boats under conversion and construction. It's going to be radio-controlled too.

It's getting a lot harder in my neck of the woods to get RC stuff that's compatible with each component unless you buy the entire thing at the same time. I'm thinking that in future I might just buy another RC boat and swap the running gear and stuff from it into my PT boat model.

Another issue; is getting the RC boat to the local pond without damaging the boat. That can be tricky to do if there are a lot of small parts on the deck of the boat. That's because I use a bicycle and a trailer to haul my model(s) to the pond.

I hope everyone is well.

Cheers

Good to hear from you, PTB2. Keep up your model work.

I'm going to get back to mine, when I retire.

Speaking of PT boat models, anyone have any new photos of their work to share? And what's Italeri's progress on a 1/35th scale 78' Higgins? Anyone know?

Hi Drew.

I just did a web search about the Italeri 78' Higgins and it appears that it's going to be releases sometime later in 2018. I wonder if they'll wait until the Christmas shopping season?

I have a partial kit of the Italeri 596 80' Elco boat that I'm thinking of selling for the shipping cost alone. I just don't have space for 3 1/35 scale PT boats. If I remember correctly all that's missing from my kit are the props, shafts and rudders. It's been in storage for a couple/few years now so I'd have to check.

Cheers

I could post some pictures of my RC PT boats but I seem to remember a statement frowning upon such pictures. I have a 1/16th 78' Higgins, a 1/20 Higgins Hellcat, and a 1/20th Elco done as a tribute to Lt. Browns 493 boat, lost in the Surigao Strait.

Larry,

When did anyone (and why would they) poo-pooh posting photos of RC PT boats?

Anything to do with WWII PT boats should be welcome on this site. Since all we have, besides two working 78' Higgins PTs, are photos and models, I say post away!

I'd love to see them Larry! It's not often we get to see Higgins models, especially R/C ones.

The Italeri Higgins boat is delayed. No release date yet. I have no information beyond that at this time. Patience grasshoppers.
