http://www.ptboatforum.com/cgi-bin/MB2/netboardr.cgi?cid=101&fid=102&tid=4287

I had a bad feeling about this from the getgo. Now my browser IS DESTROYED! I had to dump the whole thing and I am reloading on my prime computer. Fortunately I have the bench computer as backup.

All my photos are on photobucket under the pt boat group.

I AM DONE WITH THIS NONSENSE!

It's going to take me hours to recover from the damage done to me by that d*** photobucket program. NEVER AGAIN!

ABSOLUTE HOG WASH - Absolutely nothing on Photobucket or the message board has caused your computer any harm what so every ! ! ! Strange, out of more than 100 members posting nearly 6,000 photos over the last 15 years using the is board and Photobucket have never ever had any similar issues let-alone a computer melt down. I also can’t figure out what a ” Browser Destroyed” is ? ? ? ? ? In 36 years of using computers I never heard of or even understand how a Browser can be damage, hurt, or rendered inoperable. Let alone destroying a computer. . . . . . . . .

As a test to ” Kill my Browser and computer “, I’ve gone to the dastardly Photobucket,
1. Navigated to your album and download the 10 photos there - 2 minutes, 33 seconds.
2. Created a new album “ NP5 New “ - 9 seconds.
3. Uploaded those same 10 photos just recently download to my computer - 26 seconds.
4. Copy the photo link for each of the 10 photos - 27 seconds.
5. Posted the 10 photo links into this “ Reply “ message - 4 seconds.
6. What - this ordeal may have taken 3 minutes and 39 seconds - maybe my adding skills might have to be checked out!

However, writing the complete post above took a couple of minutes more. If I don’t post another reply you will know that my “ Browser was destroyed” or if I post, not a darn thing happened ! ! ! ! !

Just in case, keeping my fingers crossed ! ! ! !

As Jeff would say Fearless Leader,

OH NO . . . . . .

My computer is still working, no destroyed browser, no grinding, crunching, flashing or flames coming from the computer. It all appears to be working just fine. However for safety sake I will run a virus scan and reply back if anything is found.

Interesting craft, thanks Dick for posting John's photos and Al for ID'ing them.

Sorry to hear of your troubles John. FYI the Photobucket website is not affiliated with this one, you may want to contact them with your problems.

VIRUS SCAN COMPLETE

As you can see my computer is still operational. The anti virus and malware program completed its task late last night and found " 0 " harmful computer viruses, malware, spyware, Trojan Horses, or other harmful elements on my computer. I guess keeping my fingers crossed helped out.

Who knows whats out there - there are plenty of people just looking at a chance to mess with your life and computer. At every nook and cranny on the internet is always someone lurking around to take advantage of people and there computers. The only defense is keeping your protection software up to date and running and making sure your firewall is on, oh yes, clean out your browser cache files frequently . . . .

So I guess it was all just a dream, never happened. I never had a ransomware attack that wouldn't stop until I pulled the plug and yanked the battery. I didn't spend the rest of the day reloading my browser and getting the bug out of my registery. I never used photobucket before this, and I won't be going back. No problem with you guys because... it never happened right?

At least you got the photos, which is all I was trying to do in the first place. I only thought you guys might be interested in these boats. Oh well,,,, good bye.

Although I have never had my browser destroyed on Photobucket, it is a PITA with all the Ads and Popups and Auto Play Videos etc that you have to navigate around in order to use the site. I dont really like it but I suppose that is what we must endure because after all it is FREE!
Dick I enjoyed reading your humorous response.

Looks like PB wants $39 a MONTH to view images off-site... grrr [:-veryangry-:]

http://www.imgur.com is a free alternative, at least for now.

According to their terms Photobucket wants $399 per year to allow image hosting. Mr. digit finger puppet has a message for those guys! To rub salt into the wound the adds are out of control to the point it's unusable. The modeling forums are burning on this topic. I'm glad to see there's an alternative. Heck, I would pay a 10th of the price if I didn't have to put up with the adds. But this is just over the top.
