This question is primarily for Steve Nugent but anyone else with documentable evidence is welcome to chime in.

RON 15 boats carried the most numerous and diverse camouflage schemes of any RON. The bulk of them were unofficial. One document I have from a former RON 15 crew member talks about repainting the 207 and 208 while they were in transit aboard the tanker. He states that they painted the boats pink with black stripes. We know from photos that these two boats carried different versions of the Adaptor pattern. Based on the photos, if the pink replaced the white, it would have been a very light shade. If the pink replaced the counter shade gray, it would have been a bit darker. Can you speak to this??

I don't have any documentation regarding color schemes on these two boats. The pink color is a new one on me, God that would make them even more ugly !
Just kidding, anyway this photo has always puzzled me, because it looks like there are three colors or shades on the 208.

Dave Morrison is pictured here, he was the Exec Officer on the 206 ( Jack
Oswald CO ), until he was moved to the Base Force because he got sick EVERY time they sailed.

Aboard one of the striped boats, note air scoop and side of chart house in stripes. Plus if you look at the stencil on the air scoop canvas cover in the foreground it looks like it reads "PT207"

Thanks for posting those photos. The first photo is of the 207 I believe.
Fred Rosen ( CO of the 207 ) has this in his scrapbook, with the caption
" PT 207 Lake Bizerte ". I think I she is at anchor, but can't tell for sure. [:-bigeyes2-:]

Jerry and Steve;
Steve you are correct, your Dave Morrison photo is of PT 208, but all of Jerry's photos are of PT 207. In Jerry's second photo PT 208 is back in the 4th row of boats. LTjg Fred Rosen was Skipper of PT 207 and LT. Ed Dubose was Skipper of PT 208 at this time. Later LTjg John M. Torrance took command of PT 208.

As with the the Pacific boats painted in the adapter scheme, no two boats are alike.

Notice the photos, PT 208 on cabin has sharper angles on the black stripes on forward cabin and windscreen, also counter shading is on port side forward cabin that bleeds over onto port side of cabin. In 208 cabin photo notice that the port side starts with light and counter shade, then black stripes. PT 207 had a black stripe first in this location.

Two other quick ways to tell the 2 boats apart, PT 207 had two dice (4 and a 3) painted on both sides of the bow. In Jerry's photo of the boat at anchor, this appears to be a reflection, but it is actually the dice. The boat was nicknamed Lucky Seven at this time.
PT 208 had a 8-ball painted on both sides of the bow and also carried a 2.75 inch rocket launcher on the port side forcastle.
