» Topic: Revell GmbH to release new tool 1/72 PT-109 kit
http://www.ptboatforum.com/cgi-bin/MB2/netboardr.cgi?cid=101&fid=102&tid=4192

I just got my regular update from Revell GmbH today and they announced a 1/72 new tool PT-109 kit. I spoke with a gentleman from Revell USA about 5 years ago who told me that they might consider updating this kit. Now it appears to be a reality. It's slated for release October 2017. No pictures yet but maybe from the 2017 Nuremburg Toy Fair in February.

I offered assistance and pointed them to some specific references. I'm very excited to see this and I'm hoping they do a good job with it.

Dave

PS. Somebody needs to reach out to Stan and warn him about the storm that is going to be coming his way! :-)

Updates I'd hope they'd add would be...ports, running lights and vents on the sides of the charthouse...steps on the starboard charthouse side and port side dayroom beneath the turret...a canvas splash skirt around the port aft twin-.50 turret...raised "star" bracings on the torpedo tube doors...no huge "overhangs" on the dayroom ports...a searchlight pintle arm...depth charges & cradles...and maybe a scribed waterline?

Interesting to speculate on what they'll do.

I spoke with the rep from Revell USA at the IPMS show about it. He told me that it would probably be released in the 1st quarter of 2018. I would expect to see something at the Nuremberg Toy Fair which is at the end of January.

I hope they found a good source of information. I reached out to them early this year and heard nothing back. I'm hoping they have a good consultant to work with on this project.

Sounds great, now if I want to have anything made I have to find a new source. Stan is building 3 PT-10 1:32 scratch build boats, one for me to replace the one that was grabbed and smashed at an outdoor Exhibit, and the others for customers, one being the grandson of CMDR. Michaud. Once these are done, Stan will no longer be building models for customers, at 81 he is done, and I must say it will be a well deserved rest for him. Now who am I gonna bug?

Awesome Stan! I hope I'm still modeling at 81!

He is an amazing friend and an amazing guy for what he does. Even with his many operations and heart attack he can outwork most guys half his age. During the season he golfs on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and now he bowls every Thursday. He works outdoors, and still has time to make models, he just never stops.

Revell Germany just posted a video of a model kit show in Germany showing off their new releases. No Elco to be seen. At least they didn't put up the old kit again. We'll have to wait and see if something shows up at Nuremberg Toy Fair.

Revell Germany announced the release date as Feb 2018. Probably means March/April at US Suppliers.
