http://www.ptboatforum.com/cgi-bin/MB2/netboardr.cgi?cid=101&fid=102&tid=4086

Good Day Everyone.[:-grin-:]

I have recently decided to look in to the possibility of either purchasing a Top Class "Ready To Run" MTB/PT Boat[:-question-:] or possibly a modified model by a Well respected Custom builder?

I had originally looked at RC Tug Boats but was not very happy with certain aspects of that side of the hobby.

Maybe I can ask if this forum a or maybe another? is the best when it comes to high quality RC Boats.

Possibly members may have details of folk who specialise in MTB RC

this is just at the initial stage ,but would like to place an order soon

best Wishes Steve[:-cheers-:][:-cheers-:]

Hi Steven . . .

This forum is actually a historical / education type forum for the discussion of American PT boats as well as all other World War II small combatants world wide. Although many of the members are modelers and RC enthusiast, and of lately we have seen the membership grown by even more modeling professionals, all are looking for detailed expertise in all that is “PT Boats”. Along with their research many have stayed on board to share their skills as well as their marvelous detailed models of all types.

If your interest are mainly RC modeling, I understand there are are several good RC sites. However, when you need the details as they pertain to the Motor Torpedo Boat class of boats, this is were you need to come. The senior members are always more than happy to come up with answers to your question, making your builds as accurate as possible.

I’m unfortunately not a modeler, so I can offer little in your quest. But, surely there will be many members (the real experts) that will be more than happy to offer suggestions.

Dick . . . .

[:-cheers-:]Hello Dick
good to get your input on things,I know the primary function of this forum is Historical and research e.t.c.was just hoping one or two folk may know of a builder, does not make me any less interested in PT boats.from a non modelling prespective.

I said yesterday that I like the way this forum operates, unlike many and especially the several RC Modelling Boards all of wish I am a member of(normally passive)

Rcgroups & universe are racked with infighting and politics e.t.c. not my cup of tea.but each to their own.

I am incapacitated so am unable to build anything worth a jot,so I need to buy RTR or have someone build me a MTB/PT

all the best Steve[:-grin-:]

Will, weren't you selling a large 109 model? :D

Good for you Steve, I'm glad you want to have at least a mostly scale boat. Years ago I started a help website after seeing a particularly bad RTR Elco 80. It looked like a caricature of one... it managed to bruise my sense of patriotism. [:-whoo2-:]

You might want to keep an eye out on ebay or the r/c boards for sale forums. If you do find a likely boat please feel free to ask for opinions.

Did you ever see Bridge Carney's R/C boat? He's put some amazing details on it. I'd be afraid to get it wet.

Steve,
The one that comes to mind is the Pro Boat RTR PT-109. You can buy directly from the manufacturer or try and source it through your local hobby shop. Here's a link to their site.

Good luck!

Hello Jeff,David & Will
Good to hear from you, much obliged.

I have the PROBoat on my short List along with examples from Graupner e.t.c.

As long as I am able to get top class RC advice prior to any purchase that would make me feel a whole lot better.Have had very unfortunate and unpleasant experiences on ebay e.t.c[:-veryangry-:].

Afraid Model shops thin on the ground here, one or two on the net,but they seem to be massively in to speed boats!

I think I may have to import any boat I choose But their maybe a chance to get one of the online stores to order for me? we will have to see

Bridge Carney's R/C boat?
is their a link to it please?

Many thanks once again

cheers Steve

Hi David
well the following was the reply I received from the so called pro boat importer!
this is typical of all my attempts to obtain anything in Norway
if they do not physically stock it then they can not be bothered to get it for you
not withstanding the fact this boat is almost discontinued it still shows available on the web sites!

trouble is importing anything to Norway is very expensive firstly P&P but mainly 35% import VAT!!!

I may have to give up on this one

all the best Steve

Hello,

If you think of the PT-109 it is discontinued and not available anymore. We do not have access to any PT boats at the moment.

Best regards,

Frode
