In an article about pt-305, it says that in their quest to find original parts they located two pt boats in Poland that they were negotiating to get parts from, anybody know about the boats or what they are doing these days?

That was 658 and 659 . 658 Jerry's boat and the 659 we got parts when it was scraped by the navy when we started the restoration on the 305 boat.

There's a few things in that article that are wrong. I don't trust anything I read in a newspaper after an R/C boat club I was in was interviewed by one, we all had a good laugh after reading the article.

Heh, you think they confused Portland with Poland? A West Palm Beach paper by the way.

THE ONLY THING WE FOUND IN POLAND WAS TWO MK17 GUN RINGS THAT WE COULD NOT GET.

That cast pedestal top wasn't used for long before they went with a welded version, sorry you guys couldn't snag it. It looks to be in good shape.

Hi Nic,
The crew of the PT658 in Portland OR has a retired US Army SGT Major Jan Wojciechowski who is Polish. Other than that link, to my knowledge, there are no Polish PT Boats. I also suggest it was a typo they confused the word "PORTLAND" with "POLAND". (....Although sometimes I think the two places may be very similar!!!) LOL
By the way the PT659 was also located here in Poland, er, I mean Portland before it was cut up into pieces. The remaining pieces were offered to the guys in New Orleans (Randy and Tom Czanski and Jerry Strahan) so they could use them to restore the 305 boat. Maybe thats where they got the "two PT Boats" detail from your story.
