I am new to this forum and am looking for information.
My dad was stationed at NB Munda from 1943 to 1945. He was attached to MTBB # 7 and #16. He was a 2nd class torpedo man, William (Bill) Grady Davis Jr. I trying to find out which boats he may have been on and anything else that would help. If someone can point in which direction to go to maybe find this out, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you Mike Davis

Looks like he came to MTB Base 7 from Munda on July 29, 1944 and went to MTB Base 16 on May 31, 1945.

Because he was assigned to the base, and not a Squadron, he wouldn't have been assigned to a boat. However, that doesn't mean he didn't go out on the boats if they needed someone. But figuring which boat will be difficult.

You'd have to go through every boat's deck log that went through these bases to see if they logged him aboard for a patrol.

Do you know if he went through MTBSTC at Melville, RI?

Thanks Charlie for the info. I will go back and look through his records and see if I can find out which school he went to.

Mike,
If you receive this, send me an e-mail and I can send you more information about MTB 16 along with some photos. I was based there and among the last to leave.

Welcome Jim, it is always an honor to have a veteran join us. I always enjoy reading what someone that was there has to say, whether assigned to a boat or supporting them. I'd love to see your photos too, if you don't mind making them public just ask if you need help posting them.

To Jeff D.
Haven't signed in to this forum for a long time and just now saw your June message. Not familiar with forum procedures but will try to upload a few photos I took with a borrowed camera a few days before Base 16 was vacated. Don't see any way to attach them here.

Thank you very much Jim, very interesting images! Was that leper colony set up on stilt houses in the water?

Thank you too Dick for your help getting these posted.
