Wakde Island 1944

Hello PT Forum crew,
Am researching a P-47 pilot's story from his Pacific service in 348th Fighter Group. Based at Wakde Island off the north coast of New Guinea circa spring-summer 1944, He recalled a Japanese attempt to land troops on either Wakde Island where the airfield was at or nearby Insoemanai Island where the camp area was. He recalled about eight Japanese barges making a night infiltration effort which two PT's intercepted and sank before they could reach the islands. Appreciate any information or sources that may help confirm date/time and circumstances of this event.
