Been feeling nostalgic lately. I remember launching a boat from John J Burns Park in Massapequa in the late 1960's and passing by a PT Boat on Jones Creek. Does anyone have any information on her past or present?

David;
I grew up on Long Island and I lived on the point of Seaford Cove and Schmidts Canal. at Foot Of Forest Ave in Massapequa as a kid until Dec 1967(at the time there was only 3 homes there, ours, my Uncle Sid Melvin's, and the Brusassco's, My Dad bought the house in the early 1950"s, but it was originally the only building on the point and a Speak Easy type club during prohibition), then we moved to American Venice, in Lindenhurst, again on the water. My uncle Bob lived on E Iroquis Pl near the golf course, and My cousin still runs and owns a boatyard off Woods Creek in Amityville. So I am quite familiar with the land and water area.
I know Burns Park just off Merrick Road with the boat ramp across the road from the baseball fields. Do you remember exactly where on Jones Creek? Was it behind a home? There are no marinas there today. Do you remember what color the boat was? Can you remember what it looked like? I have several possibilities, and were used for supply boats to Fire Island and Jones Beach. A third was a Party boat running out of Point Lookout, a fourth and fifth normally ran out of Sheepshead Bay as Party boats.
Take care,
TED
