I have a girly question,

I was looking at this jeep for a 60th b-day present for my husband.
Wondering if you guy's could give me some advice.
Its in New Orleans, the price seems a little to good to be true.

I live in MN so I would have to send someone down there to look at it for me. If it is what it says it is, I should buy it sight unseen.
If it is what they say it is, it will go fast.

The mechanics is no big deal, bob can fix just about anything & parts are available. I just don't want to give him a pile of junk.
Another concern is, I don't want to send money to someone who took a picture of a random jeep he saw on the street. [:-rdo-:]

Any one have advice?

I took a look at the photo in question, very tough to judge a vehicle with 2 far away photos and a poor write up about the Jeep. From what i could see, the jeep does not have original seats, nor original tires. Knowing nothing about the engine or tranny it is tough to say. Remember New Orleans was also flooded during the Hurricane, so you have no clue if this Jeep has seen any water at all. A Very cheap price, make me a bit cautious from the start. I would certainly ask questions and if it were me I would have a mechanic go through it front to back. It may very well be a good Jeep to start a restoration, but these are just a few things I would be concerned with.

Hi Julie,
Randy Smith would be a good contact to look if he has time. He is PT305's master mechanic in charge of their engine restoration. He himself has a restored WW2 jeep and would know what to look for. Maybe you could ask him?

I heeded and agreed with Franks warnings.
I took Jerry and Roberts advice and I contacted Randy.

Randy thinks this jeep might be trouble.
I am not going to send money for it, if Randy has the time he might go look at it. I am not as excited about it so if I loose it in the mean time it will probably be for the best.

If anyone knows of an older Willys jeep for sale that we can use for fun. Something like an old hunting jeep, I want my husband to use it, not baby it. There was an old Willys jeep in the family that he remembers that I am trying to replicate for him. That's why I am going for the Willys name.
Talking with Randy, there is some interesting information about the actual WWII jeeps not having the Willys name on them.

So much to learn, it was really fun talking with Randy.
