Spotted this in the Morning paper.

PORTER - Gerard R. passed on June 25, 2014. Mr. Porter was born February 8, 1922 in Springfield Gardens, NY. WW II Navy PT Boat Veteran-Pacific Theatre. Beloved husband of Ruth (nee Doll). Loving father of Patricia Viani (Peter), Lois Mulligan (Bob), and Ruth (Steven) Whipple. Cherished grandfather of Michael (Marsella), Jeanine, Matthew, Mark (Bonnie), Andrew, Brendan, and Meghan. Family will receive friends Saturday 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Flinch & Bruns Funeral Home, Inc., 34 Hempstead Ave. (corner Peninsula Blvd.) Lynbrook. Funeral Service 8 PM. There will be no visitation on Sunday. Interment Monday with Military Honors at Calverton National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital .
