» Topic: 7.6 magnitude earthquake in Solomon Islands today
http://www.ptboatforum.com/cgi-bin/MB2/netboardr.cgi?cid=101&fid=102&tid=3541

A 7.6 magnitude earthquake hit the Solomon Islands and New Guniea this morning, with a following tsunami.

This will obviously affect a lot of the WWII PT operating area sites there.

Say a prayer for the inhabitants...

Hope all will be alright, I wonder if this is going to change Jack Duncan's plans. Jack served on PT BOATS and if not mistaken is scheduled for the Solomons tour very soon.

I spoke with both Jack and Vicky from the tour company last week when the Solomons had the 6.6 quake right after the worse flooding disaster in "living memory". Vicky said the trip is full speed ahead, and Jack is not worried. The group will always be on the 125 foot dive boat except for short trips ashore at different locations however I understand most of Honiara's infrastructure has been destroyed and the several bridges that lead from the airport to town are gone. I must say we are glad we pulled the plug on the trip at last fall.

Roy and Drew, thank you for posting these reports. The news links Roy posted were dated April 4th. I am wondering if there is any more reports coming out about the 7.6 mag. earthquake and tsunami?

This is devastating news
I know Jack is not worried, but I am worried for him and his group.

Thanks for keeping us posted.
Julie
