» Topic: Can anybody ID this LT from RON 22?
http://www.ptboatforum.com/cgi-bin/MB2/netboardr.cgi?cid=101&fid=102&tid=3490

I just won this on Ebay, from the background the photo appears to be taken at Bastia, Corsica 1944, I also believe he is a RON 22 Officer, I have a few ideas, but can anyone I.D., him for sure?

This photo of a sailor was in the same group, he may or may not be a RON 22 sailor, any ideas?

Thanks.
Take care,

First Photo
My good friend Mitch Cirlot tells it might be the original RON22 CO for PT-305.

His last name is Martar, was pronounced "mortar". You can see him about to leave the theater because of the diddy bag.

I might have his picture sitting on the 305!

Second photo shows this guy with a bootcamp stripe. Mitch did not recognize him, not familiar. He will continue to search.

Higgins Fan;
For some reason, as soon as I saw this photo I thought of PT 307, I went through the photos I have saved on my thumb drive and originally, thought this was a photo of LTjg Paul Fidler USNR who was killed on 8 DEC 1944 with S 1/C Albert E. Ferrin when PT 307 bow plunged in rough weather. Then I looked at another photo and have decided this is not Fidler, It is LT. Edward Groweg, Skipper of 307(see crew photo below) before Fidler, later Groweg became Skipper of PT 306.

LTjgFidler, Albert .E. Ferrin, S 1/C were lost in wave damage incident when the boat bow plunged 8 DEC 1944. On 31 MAY 1944, PT 307 was on a mission where they (306, 307, and 308) attacked a German DD and a Corvette, Fidler was wounded by shrapnel in buttocks, head, and shoulder. TM 2/C Fuller was also wounded, all told 3 men were killed(Ganz, Klann, and Ensign Kent Moorman) and 5 were wounded.
