http://www.ptboatforum.com/cgi-bin/MB2/netboardr.cgi?cid=101&fid=102&tid=3477

Well guys I am into building my 3rd Dumas Higgins model. One is now on display in my sons office. One will be on display in my Granddaughters M.D. office next year when she begins practice. This one is for a young (30 y.o.) family friend who has a keen interest in PT Boats after listening to some of my sea stories since childhood. He is now a successful businessman in Houston. I know you experts think the Dumas model is crappy, out of scale, etc. but when I add a 40 mm on the stern,a 20mm. midships, a 37 mm on the bow, two twin fifties deck mounted in front of the charthouse and a radar mast it sure looks like the 242 which I rode for 13 months. It is the nearest thing I have found. I am very fortunate to still have good vision and a reasonably steady hand so I hope to have it completed in a couple of months.

Ahoy there C.J.

Can't be any worse than the Lindberg PT-109 kit in1/35 scale. Even that beast can be made to look fairly good better weapons and some work.

A lot of times I think the important thing is that we enjoy our model building, enjoy the time running it ifit's radio-controlled and enjoy the happines on the face of anyone we decide to give it to.

Good luck with the build.

Cheers from Peter

Good luck on the build C.J. I think that is great that you are building this young Kid a boat. I bet it will be something he will cherish. Having a boat built by not only a WWII VETERAN, but one of the guys that served on it, is really something special. Of all the wonderful artifacts donated to my Exhibit, having a boat built by a Veteran is something I never had. GOOD FOR YOU. Hoping to see photos here.

C.J.,
The build will be fantastic because it came from YOU! I'm sure it will be well received and loved. I hope you share your progress with us and most of all have fun building her.
