MRC/Merit announce 1/48 PT kits for 2014...

Oddly enough, they are announcing kits of PT-596 and PT-109. Merit is basically a Trumpeter product, which can sometimes be good, sometimes be bad. But for those with little room for displaying their ships, these may fit the bill.

Amazing. Nice scale though. 1/48 is still pretty big.

Hopefully they won't be the same mouldings for both.
Best Regards,
Stu.

Probably some Chinese reverse engineering going on here. I heard back from my friends at Italeri. They were not aware of it. This kit may never happen.

Sounds like they plan to do a pantoengraving of the 1/35 kit to smaller 1/48 molds. In other words smaller scale pirated copies of the Italeri kits.
Cheers

I don't think of Merit as pirating other companies products. They really do nice work. It's going to be interesting to see their releases of these two boats.

The PT Boats are really great news but what I’m happy to see are the display cases toward the bottom of the catalog..

Trust me display cases can get costly Bob. I have them for all of my PT Boat Models and Diorama's, but you have to have them. Not sure what the cost will be for them, but good to know.

Wow, those are some big cases! I'm going to have to check those out! Great idea with all the 1/200 capital ships out there.

Interesting, but I don't think I'd pay a high price for them if they didn't have crew figures...just my two cents.
