Having read the posts on the corrections needed for the 109 kit, what is / are needed for the 596 kit (is the curve of the deck needed as an example)?

Hi Jeff,
It's up to you. I'll get the ball rolling....

1. Hull - Both kits share the same hull so the same corrections would apply.
2. 596 Torpedoes - The torpedoes are not correct. The plate on the warhead should be facing down. Some have corrected the problem by cutting the warhead off and then gluing it back on in the right position. However the plate itself is not correct for a war shot. The plate on the warhead should curve up a little on the forward end of the torpedo. The best solution are the roll off torpedoes in Italeri's update set. They are perfect. The problem is they only provide one. So you'll have to find somebody to give them up, or cast duplicates from the set, or just buy several update sets depending on how many torpedoes you want.

Those are what come to mind right at the moment.

Jeff,

I haven't got the 596 kit yet but I am pretty sure it has the same day cabin wall problems.

Best Regards,
Stu.

It has the same problems yes, The 20mm is a lot softer and sketchier in detail than the one in the Accessory set too. It's an earlier relaes than the 109 so there may be other tweaks Itallieri did in the mean time

Dave, are the 20mm Cannon's pretty much the same in the PT-109 Kit and the new updated kit. Just curious as to which one to use for our new PT-108/LCVP Project.
