Bulkeley's book AT CLOSE QUARTERS has some details of Ron 7 opsd, although no mention of AVRs. Some AVR info on the USN "Beachjumper" site.

Kendall - I have several pics of Ron 7 boats. What are you looking for specifically?

I am an associate member of the Beachjumpers Association and my father trained in Ocracoke, NC in 1944. He spoke many times about the crashboats they used to train on. The local historian of Ocracoke has written many books about the history of WWII on Ocracoke. He has written one book in particular, "Ocracoke Island, Its History and People and the US Coast Guard during World War II" by Earl W. O'Neal, Jr.
It is available for purchase from the Ocracoke Island Preservation Society's Museum giftshop. Here is the homepage link to their website. http://www.ocracokepreservation.org/ I hope this might be of some help about Crashboats.

Hi Will and All Others,

So glad to find this site back up and running. Found the reference to Ron 7, had to jump back on deck. Will you probably don't remember me, but we had some contact on the old board. My father was Marvin "Pat" Horton of the 133 & 127 boats. Chief Motor Mac on one of them. You made reference to having Ron 7 photos, any chance of getting a look at them?

I was in contact with Mr. Mickey Kiley of the 128 for a few years till he dropped his land line and I lost his cell number. Any ideas on who might know of him?

Also am searching the seas for at least two appropriate buttons from a Dress Blue Chief's uniform, one for my sister and one for myself. As an aside, I just picked up, on-line, (haven't received it yet), a copy of "Captain Storm, PT Boat Skipper", an old comic book. Am trying to find ways to connect my children to their Grandfather who sailed on before they were born. My son is an artist, who is currently working on a graphic novel, thought this might bring it home for him.

As always, am eager to learn anything about Ron 7 and those who may remember my Dad.

Regards to all,

Patricia - I don't remember what photos I might have sent you in the past. I have several shots of Ron 7 boats, and a couple of pics of the 127 crew(s). Let me know if you want any of them.

Hi Will,

I'd be thrilled with any and all pictures you might have of the 127, 133, (lost in action) or the 128. And anything on Ron 7. Lost everything previously sent, when I saved it to computer that took a torpedo!

Thanks so very much,

Patricia

Pat: I'll gather what I have, but I've got a suddenly balky computer also, so there may be a delay.

Will, just sent of another note w/ questions. Was wondering if all was well on your end. Just bought a new computer, I think it was born "balky" . See my post under buttons for a Chief's Dress Blue. My sister and I are working on something to honor Dad and I'd kind of like to surprise her for Christmas...she just had her 4th hip replacement yesterday. This good little elf is trying to get somethings done while she's in "dry dock". Whenever and whatever you can come up with will be wonderful.

Regards,
Patricia "Cia" Horton-Pinello

Hi Will,
Finally catching a break here, didn't notice your request for my addy before it's: hortonwhozits@yahoo.com

You'll probably know how deeply these pictures will be appreciated, especially if we're able to spot Daddy on one of them. My sister is now home and recovering from her 4th hip replacement. I think she could use a real boost about now.

Warmest regards,
Patricia
