http://www.ptboatforum.com/cgi-bin/MB2/netboardr.cgi?cid=101&fid=102&tid=3286

Ahoy there.

Did the large engine room vent on 80' Elco engine room large vent have screen mesh on the opening?

Thanks and cheers from Peter

Ahoy there Bob.

Thanks. I have some silver metal screen and I also have some really fine nylon screen I can use. I just want to be sure that Italeri got it right before I add mine.

Cheers from Peter

Ahoy there.

Does anyone know for sure whether or not the opening of the large engine room vent on the 80' Elco was screened in? If it was I'll add some to my Lindberg boat. I don't know if Italeri got it right and am looking for confirmation that the screen wa used on actual boats.

Thanks and cheers from Peter

Ahoy there Jeff.

I didn't know a number would make a difference. Does this mean that early large vents didn;t have screens and later ones did have screens?

Thanks and cheers from Peter

That's a cross between an elephant and a rhinoceros Peter, an elephino. I wanted to check the Elco drawing DVD, the question was to to narrow down the search. There's about 16 hatch specific .pdf files.

I went through the DVD and didn't see any evidence of screening, but a second pair of eyes might find something I missed.
