I have had a few donations of late, which include three Navy Dress Blue Uniforms. All came from an estate, so I have no real paper work with them, just the rates and ribbons. I want to add the PT INSIGNIA to the proper shoulder on the blouse's but have both the later style PT Insignia and thew early one. Does it matter which one to use, as I have no dates of their service. When did the early style phase out anyway, and the plain torpedo style appear. For instance, what insignia would a crewmen from PT-109 had on their blouse, just curious here.

The Disney patch, though unauthorized was used from the early days until 1943.

On August 11, 1943, the Navy authorized, via Bureau of Personnel Circular Letter (BPCL) 153-43, the Patrol Torpedo Boat distinguishing mark consisting only of the block letters “PT”.

BPCL 265-44 was signed on September 14, 1944 which replaced the block “PT” distinguishing mark with the torpedo shoulder patch.
