Ray Wilbur Sr. was kind enough to send me some photos of the 495 boat. We was on her until wounded 19 Nov. '44. I scanned them and added them to my Ron 33 album page. Thanks Ray.

For anyone interested, the night Ed mentions (N0v. 19/20 '44) you can read about it on page 394 in the book "At Close Quarters".

Those are great photo shots; crisp and clear. By reading past messages that you've posted, I understand that you are building or have also built a PT Boat like I have. What scale is your boat and is it going to be commissioned Radio Control? Also, can you explain how your photo link is highlighted, to where people only have to click on it?

Thanx,

Greg (RON 16)

The model I'm working on is the 1/35th scale Italeri 80" Elco that I am backdating to a late '44 time period. It is not R/C, just static display.

To post a link do this:

[**url]http:/etc. for your link[/url**]

To post a photo:

[**image]link to your photo host site[/image**]

You need to not type the **. I had to put them in because it actually tried to make a link.

Try to keep photossmaller than 1000x750 or they make the post very wide and you have to scroll side-to-side to read all the text.

VCR,
The sinking boat was the 493, the subject of the color photos in my RON33 album. It was lost during the Battle of Surigao Strait when it was hit by gunfire and withdrew in sinking condition. They managed to make it near an island where they grounded on a reef. Other boats arrived to take off the crew, etc. The 495 boat, my model subject, then put a line to the 493's bullnose and pulled her off the reef allowing it to sink in pretty deep water to avoid falling into enemy hands.
