One of the reasons I like to research is that it is essentially never-ending. The answer to one question inevitably leads to more related questions.

For instance, today Frank asked me if the MK5 20mm mount (tall, non-elevatable pedestal) was used on PTs. I spent some time looking at Higgins photos and discovered that it was, but in a very limited fashion, apparently. It seems, at least at this moment, that it was unique to RON 15 boats. The only boats I could easily identify were 211 and 215, but there were others, as well. Surrounded by a bandstand, the MK5 was mounted over the aft fuel tank compartment on tubed boats mounting the MK4 mount aft. Here's 215 (p46, Victor's volume 2) so configured:

Notice that the outboard boat has two MK10 mounts.

So, now I want to know which boats were so fitted, when the fitting occurred, when it was changed, etc.

What I love about these boats is that they seem to be in a constant state of evolution. You can't find two boats that are exactly alike and often it's hard to find the same boat withthe same look from picture to picture. Each has its own personality. Thanks for sharing Al.

Yup. The top photo is of a MK5; the others are MK4.
Thanks, Jerry.
