Aha, you figured it out!
This was a test to see how much you guys were paying attention! (or alternatively, the PT658 really is a cleverly disguised 80 foot Elco, and now you have exposed the secret we have been keeping all of these years!) I think it is kind of funny dont you? Al you win the award for being the first person to notice this faux pas on the part of the Documentary DVD producers. It is still a pretty good documentary, although they interviewed some WW2 vets in the movie that we have never actually met while restoring the PT658. Mr Lee Jeans is extensively interviewed yet nobody ever saw him around the PT658. We think he was a buddy of the cameraman maybe, who lives down in Eugene Oregon. Also they are always interviewing some other "expert" (Pat somebody?) that I can't recall his name right now. (He looks younger and a little heavy and is listed as a "historian") yet nobody has ever heard from him either. It wouldnt bother me except he makes a few glaring mis-statements about PT Boats that I think are slightly innaccurate or misleading. All in all, we at the boat were just happy to recieve the free publicity of the film. We also got a 10% discount to sell the DVD from the publisher, but have lately recieved hardly anything from proceeds from them since it is sold for $5 on Ebay, and that price greatly undercuts what we are able to get it for. But still, any publicity is better than no publicity at all! Thanks for noticing the error. Jerry

PS Happy New Year!

Pretty sharp for an old guy, Al! Also makes you wonder if there really is a Jerry Gilmartin, doesn't it? Could this all be a Frank Andruss/Ted Walther prank?

I hate to admit it here, but because Al brought it up, the guys who made this documentary and I are old friends. I put the bug in their ear to put up a few photos of PT Boats on the cover. As they had none, they asked if I could help and provide them a few. I gave them an Elco photo, just because I love them so much. I wonder if Jerry will ever forgive me, lol.........

Hmmmm. I'm thinking of using this on the cover of my Higgins book:

Maybe use the title SPITFIRES OF THE SEA.

I'm sorry Jerry, I was drunk with power, Al love the title, but maybe you could use a B-17 instead, it's my favorite Aircraft........

One can only say "Well done Ted"

Maybe you can arrange a trade, you let Jerry hold your Trophy while he lets you pilot the 658 mind you if you ding his boat he may use the trophy on your head!

Good luck with that and remember to post photos for us meer mortals to see
