http://www.ptboatforum.com/cgi-bin/MB2/netboardr.cgi?cid=101&fid=102&tid=2983

Just opened my Italeri 1/35th scale PT 103-class 80' Elco model kit (my major Christmas present this year), and...

Wow! This thing is big and beautiful. The size and quality of the kit has to be seen in person to be appreciated.

Any 80' Elco PT buffs that aren't modelers (and have room in their houses) may want to get one of these and try to get someone in the family who builds models, or contract a builder from your local high-end hobby store (if you can find one) to make one of these babies.

To repeat -- the kit is beautiful. Kudos to Italeri and to all our guys on this side of the Atlantic that helped them develop this great model kit.

Drew I too received a PT 103 Elco model under the tree from my two granddaughters. I already have a PT 596 Elco and a Dumas PT 242 Higgins, soon I will have mixed Squadron displayed in my dining room.

No doubt the new Italeri PT-109 is a work of art. After we do PT-61, I hope Stan will have time to build my PT-109, as I can't wait to see it finished. I keep looking at the box every day...............

I too found an Italeri PT-109 next to the tree (wouldn't fit under it!). What a magnificent work of art! I can't wait to get into this project. A heartfelt thank you to all the members of this board who contributed to this masterpiece. May the piece and love of your God shine down on you and your families during this holiday season.[:-cheers-:]

I just dropped into the local hobby shop, yes we still have one in Dayton, Ohio, and on the shelf was the Italeri 109 for $139.00. I got it for my wife as a late Christmas gift.

I'm been working occasionally on my PT-109 Fibo Craft kit I purchased almost 40 years ago and really appreciate all of the information offered by the forum members.

Thank you

Ed

Ed;
Welcome aboard! WOW!! you have a wife that recieved a PT boat model for a Christmas Gift! That is AWESOME! Where did you find her? Most of our wives would prefer not even to hear the next story or fact, or anything that relates to PT Boats.
Congradulations !!
Take care,

HMMM Take this for what its worth
I attempted to order one PT-109 kit, went through all their payment system received an email that confirmed the order then, a few hours later received a second email that cancelled the orded and payment and stated that italeri would not accept orders or post to AUSTRALIA. Sorry guys I just get the feeling that they are a very very odd company.

Hi David,
You ordered directly from Italeri? I know they sell direct but you're the first person I've heard back from ordering direct. From Australia a good option for you might be to order from Hobby Easy in HKG. They have it listed for AUD 83.35 and their shipping is usually pretty reasonable. They are currently showing out of stock. You might reach out to them to see when they expect them in. What I like about Hobby Easy is that if they don't have it in stock they give you an option of back ordering or returning your money.

Stay away from Lucky Models. They show it as "available" but what that means is that they don't have it in stock and if you give them your money you wont get it back. You'll get store credit or back order, but you'll never get your cash back. Ever.

Good luck and I hope you are able to snag a kit soon.

Dave

I've had good luck with LuckyModel. As long as you understand that "in Stock" means in their Warehouse and "Available" means "we don't have it in our warehouse but we're pretty sure we can re-order it," the prices are decent and the service good (I never order when it says available). That one issue of the definition of "available" causes them more heartache and they really ought to be more clear about it or stop using it.
