I have been looking at the pictures posted on the forum of the Italieri model and i had a few questions for those who bought it. I'd like to make a model of an earlier Elco and was wondering if things like the rocket launcher mounts and gun mounts were molded into the deck or seperate parts. Can I modify tbhis model without having to grind off stuff molded into the deck?
Thanks,
Jeff Sherry

Jeff: There are no big extrusions molded into the 596 deck. You might have to fill/recut some hatches or move turret placement, but backdating is possible.

You sure can. All the gun mounts, torpedo racks, rocket launchers, etc. are individual pieces. For some you have to open up holes in the deck to even mount them. Other already have holes open but they are easily filled. The 50 cal mounts are part of the cabins but nothing major is molded into the deck.

Thanks. I was worried about having to gring off molded parts.
