Got a question. Where were the coolant pick-ups located on the boat if there were any, to cool the engines. I see what looks like water comming out of the exhausts and wondered if this was a kinda pass thru system or like a car with radiators maybe? [:-confused2-:]

Reb,

Cooling inlets were located on the bottom of the boats, aft of amidship. They are positioned to always be submerged regarless of the speed of the boat. Exact locations can be determined by drawings from ELCO and Higgins.

The cooling system was a number of heat exchangers and cooling jackets. The exhaust was cooled by a jacket that drained at the end of the stack. This drain and normal condensation from combustion is the water you mentioned coming from the exhaust.
